About Our Guild

The Westchester Area Basketmakers Guild has been sharing the joy of weaving baskets together since 1986. WABG serves members mainly in Westchester and Putnam counties, as well as the greater NYC area.

Workshops are held several times a year in various locations, and many of our teachers are nationally and internationally known basketmakers. The classes we offer are geared toward beginning, experienced and advanced basketmakers. We also hold an annual “Make and Take” workshop in September to introduce new people to basketmaking. Through our outreach programs we hold workshops at local libraries, and we also have regular exhibits and sales at local venues. WABG hopes to promote the history and creativity of basketry and carry it forward into the future, preserving this ancient craft for future generations to enjoy.

Individual membership is $15 a calendar year, and entitles members to a discount in workshop fees, class registration priority, a quarterly newsletter, and email updates with information about upcoming workshops, guild news, basketry conventions, and more.

  1. I have supplies to make baskets that I would like to donate to your Guild. My mom who is now 96 years old and no longer making baskets has various supplies that she no longer uses. We would like to put these items in the hands of a group or guild that could utilize them. I am located in White Plains and would be happy to drop off what we have. I’m talking about a few boxes of materials. Can you help me with this request?
